Lisa's Rock Climbing Wall Design

We designed the wall to be 16 ft tall and 12 feet wide. 2 x 4s were bolted to the side of the house. Then we put the T-nuts into the back of the plywood before mounting them onto the 2 x 4s. The holes for the climbing holds were randomly placed every foot our so. I ended up with 192 holes for holds plus the addition of screw in holds.
After the plywood was attached we painted a base coat of epoxy primer. Then an epoxy based top coat with the addition of sand. I added the color to give it the look of southwest sandstone. Also note the 2005 pictograph photo. After it was dry I started putting up the holds. The more I put up the more I wanted. The total to date is approx 120 holds including screw in holds and corner holds.
I used hay in the fall zone for safety. I'm going to replace it with pea gravel though. After visiting Vertical World I realized that it works pretty well.
I also placed bolts at the top and have a top rope and use a Petzel ascender for safety. It works great. I generally climb up and climb back down. Its a great workout.
Night climbing. I'm using cheap utility lights to light up the climbing area. It works great for night climbing.
