This was a great event. Over 50 fire fighters, a couple of paramedics, and friends turned out to honor John Cahill with the 1st Annual "John Cahill Memorial Bike and Hike". What a way to remember John and celebrate his life. Larry did an outstanding job of putting this event together. The memorial for John with a prayer and the chaplain talking about John and how he lived his life really honored his life. The route we did was a lot of fun, challenging, and beautiful. We started out at the Greenwater Firestation just east of Greenwater. We rode up highway 410 to Crystal Mountain Blvd. Then it was a 5 mile climb up to Crystal Mountain Lodge. Gotta love hills. Anyway we arrived at the lodge, changed into our hiking attire and then set out on a 5 mile hike up to Henskin Lake and back. Then it was back on the bikes for the 20 mile descent which was a workout on highway 410 because of the ever present afternoon head wind. I can't wait to do it again next year.
Some of the photos didn't turn out that well. I had something on my camera lense that was almost impossible to clean off with the lense cleaner I had. So, unfortunately quite a few of the photos didn't turn out the way I wanted. Well, there is always next year. If you want to let me know the names of some of the people in the photos I can add them in.
