Showing up at Sandpoint to catch the air conditioned bus to Bellingham was the start of a great 8 day adventure. After loading my gear and bike I hopped on board. Lots of conversation on the way up. There were 208 riders doing this year's "Ride Around Washington. There were solo riders, tandems, recombants, recombant tandems, and other types of bikes. We arrived in Bellingham in the afternoon and after setting up camp in a school yard we headed out for Italian Pasta for dinner. Great night before meal. That evening we had our first ride meeting and got introduced to the route and preparation that Cascade's volunteers had done to put this ride together. Then it was off to bed and up early for the beginning of an adventure. We would be riding from Bellingham across Whidbey Island to the Port Townsend (PT) Ferry. From there we'd take the ferry over to PT, spend the night and then head to Port Angeles, Forks, Hoquim, and conclude our ride in Ilwaco on the southwest corner of Washinton State.
