We had an awesome day on the Green River during the 20th Annual Green River Clean-up. We launched from Kanasket State Park. Ron, our guide, runs a professional river guiding company. Today, though, he was rafting with a group of friends and a couple of last minute additions. Myself and Mike. The river was running at about 1000 cfs. A little bony but none the less a lot of fun. Ron, made us work for our free ride as we dug into awesome rapids like Pipeline, Mercury, the Nozzle, and others. Spring was in full bloom and the river carved canyon was lined in new spring growth. We stopped for lunch at the Green River Gorge Resort where Ron and Mike took the plunge (see photos). Then we spent some time surfing the wave at Paradise before continuing down river.
6.5 hours and a few full garbage sacks later we eddied out at Flaming Geyser State Park. It was a great day with good company, lots of great whitewater, and stunning scenery.
Thanks to Friends of the Green and Washington Recreational River Runners for putting on a great event. Can't wait til next year.
