Senior Week at the Capitol

The Georgia Council on Aging recently sponsored “Senior Week at the Capitol 2014.” This annual event is an important time for seniors to personally meet their legislators and communicate their concerns about issues affecting older adults. They share personal stories about their need for services to remain in their homes and communities, advocating for additional funds for home delivered meals and other in-home services.

Ida Ruth Floyd, Jesse Hall, and Grady Clements were three voices that were heard by Governor Nathan Deal on Feb 27, 2014. As representatives of Middle Georgia’s seniors, they had an opportunity to have their photo taken with the Governor and briefly tell him how the services offered through the Area Agency on Aging, a division of the Middle Georgia Regional Commission, impacts their lives and those of their neighbors.
